Tairua Harbour teems with birdlife at low tide – herons, godwits, stilts, oystercatchers and kingfishers in abundance, while, on the ocean beach, rare dotterels build their nests and gannets dive for fish. The local bush is full of the sound of tui and morepork. You may also see dolphins from the beaches and the occasional orca. Enjoy too the unique bush mix of native ferns, palms and trees, local farms and beautiful gardens.
