Roadside stalls with 'honesty boxes' are a great way to find seasonal fruit and vegetables and free-range eggs. There are regular local produce markets, with breads, cakes, local cheeses, meat, nuts, olives and juices. The Coromandel produces nearly a quarter of New Zealand's mussels and oysters. And there are vineyards and local breweries nearby as well as some fabulous cafés and restaurants, cheese farms and more. www.thecheesbarn.co.nz

The Coromandel produces some great food and drink, the landscape is dotted with small farms and orchards – and there are lots of ways to sample it!
